STOKES FIRESTARTERS

Stokes firestarters can be used for fireplaces, lighting grills, wood burning stoves, campfires and outdoor fire pits. Just tear one STOKE and place it under firewood or charcoal and just one match will get your fire going. Each STOKE burns for approximately 12-14 minutes.

Wayland High School student Adam Liszewski is the founder of Stokes Natural Firestarters.  (www.stokesfirestarter.com) In many ways, he’s a typical teenager, who enjoys sports and hanging out with his friends.  He’s an avid skier and often accompanies his father Tom, during volunteer ski patrol duty at Wachusett Mountain.  His favorite subject is Science.

In the fall of 2011 Adam noticed when lighting the family woodstove, that traditional fire starters didn’t always work on the first try and that they weren’t all chemical-free. Shortly afterward, he heard about a way of making firestarters that were chemical-free and use recycled materials.  Using some saved egg cartons, lint from the dryer and melted candle stubs, he experimented. These became gifts he gave during the holidays that year. The following year, he didn’t have the time to make the “egg-nighters” as they were called by the family. However, after receiving some requests from folks that loved the firestarter he created, and offered to pay him to make some, Adam decided to see if he could make an even better firestarter. Adam worked to substitute the lint with hardwood sawdust, that he picked up from a friend of the family, who owns Pompanoosuc Mills up in Vermont. The final product proved to light quickly, burn much longer and was healthy all at the same time.  Thus, Stokes Natural Firestarters were created. Made with all natural and recycled materials, it is all sourced in the USA and manufactured in Massachusetts.
