Growing Zone
What USDA Plant Hardiness Zone is Massachusetts in?
Most of eastern Massachusetts, including the Greater Boston area, falls within USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 6a-7b. If you live near our Brighton, Chelmsford, Concord, Tewksbury, and Winchester locations, your growing zone is likely 6b and if you live near our Falmouth and Osterville locations you are probably in zone 7a. This zone is important for gardeners because it helps determine which plants are most likely to thrive in your local climate, especially through the winter.
Knowing your zone can guide you when selecting perennials, shrubs, and trees, as well as when to plant tender annuals.
