Haunted Maze Returns to Mahoney’s Winchester for 2025

Family-Friendly and Frightful Fun from September 26 – October 26

A Greater Boston Halloween tradition is back! The Haunted Maze at Mahoney’s Garden Center in Winchester opens on Friday, September 26, 2025 and will run daily through Sunday, October 26, 2025. The maze is open 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM daily, with special late-night hours until 8:00 PM from Friday, October 10 through Sunday, October 12 (weather permitting). The Haunted Maze features two paths: a scary side with spooky thrills for older kids and brave families, and a non-scary side designed for younger children and those who prefer seasonal fun without the fright. A quick exit is available at all times, ensuring visitors can choose the experience that fits their comfort level.

For Bob Rocco, Director of Stores at Mahoney’s Garden Centers, the maze is a personal passion project. “Fall has always been my favorite season, and creating the Haunted Maze is something I look forward to all year,” Rocco said. “It’s such a joy to see families laughing, getting a little spooked, and making memories together. That’s what makes this tradition so special.”

Parents often report that their kids love the Haunted Maze so much they run through it again and again. Marketing Director Liz Lark-Riley says her own son is one of them. “My elementary-aged son absolutely loves the Haunted Maze,” she said. “He insists that one day he’s going to be one of the scary characters himself. For him — and for so many families — the maze has become a highlight of the season.”

Special highlights this year include the return of the Mahoney’s Clown, making guest appearances throughout October, weather permitting. During the extended evening hours October 10–12, the maze will feature extra roaming characters and added scares, perfect for those who want an extra thrill. Families can also enjoy seasonal treats like cider, coffee, popcorn, and cider donuts — and pick out the perfect pumpkin to carve into a jack-o’-lantern at home.

Rocco hinted that the fun may not stop at Halloween. He shared that he hopes to debut a holiday light walk at Mahoney’s Winchester later this year, giving families yet another reason to visit.
