Pisces in Bloom: A Floral Arrangement Inspired by the Two Fishes

Pisces season (February 19–March 20) is known for its dreamy, intuitive, and deeply emotional energy. Symbolized by two fishes swimming in opposite directions, Pisces represents imagination, empathy, and a constant pull between reality and reverie. This zodiac-inspired floral arrangement captures a fluid, romantic, and slightly otherworldly feel—just like Pisces itself.
Symbolism Rooted in Water & Movement
One of the most literal (and playful) nods to Pisces is string of dolphins, included for its trailing form and unmistakable aquatic reference. Its gentle drape adds softness and motion, echoing the way Pisces energy tends to flow rather than stand still.
The florist chose anthurium for its sculptural shape and glossy surface, which echo the movement of tides and currents. Its form brings a sense of movement through the arrangement, reinforcing the idea of water in motion rather than calm stillness.
Two Roses, Two Fishes
At the heart of the design are two roses, symbolically representing the two fishes of Pisces. Roses also add emotional depth and romance—fitting for a sign often associated with compassion, creativity, and deep feeling.
Dreamy Blooms & Intuitive Color
Several supporting flowers help build the soft, layered mood Pisces is known for:
- Ranunculus brings lush texture and gentle complexity.
- Anemones add contrast and introspection, with their dark centers drawing the eye inward.
- Hyacinths lend a sense of sensitivity and sincerity.
- Blue delphiniums reinforce Pisces’ connection to water and intuition through color and vertical movement.
- Fritillaria meleagris, with its delicate, checkered blooms, introduces a quiet sense of mystery and individuality.
Together, these elements create an arrangement that feels expressive, emotional, and intentionally unstructured—perfectly aligned with Pisces’ artistic and empathetic nature.
A Pisces Fun Fact
Neptune rules Pisces, a water sign known for dreams, creativity, and imagination, and that influence shows through flowing lines, soft colors, and blooms that invite you to linger and look a little closer.

Meet the Designer
Each zodiac arrangement in this series is designed by Julia, Mahoney’s Floral Manager since 2018. Having grown up around flowers, Julia brings years of hands-on experience to her work and enjoys the creative challenge of interpreting zodiac signs through color, texture, and form. Rather than taking a literal approach, she focuses on the personality and energy of each sign, creating arrangements that feel expressive, thoughtful, and uniquely their own.
